Poor Three Bridges looked " motorway lagged" in the first half as they soon found themselves 3-0 behind at the break. The game started 30 minutes late as the opposition were stuck on the M25 for over three hours.

The Woods, missing Jamie Lindsay who has gone on to first team football at Harefield United, where we wish him every success, looked very impressive from the outset and continued in the same vein all afternoon.

On 8 minutes they took the lead when Will Hudson fired home and five minutes later the same player crashed home a volley from fully 25 yards as he ran onto a great cross from the impressive debutant Daryl Campbell-Grimshaw.

Immediately from the restart Northwood won a corner and to his, and everybody else's, surprise Scott Purdue saw his corner sail over the keeper’s head directly into goal.

The second half started with Three Bridges getting back into the game when they played some neat football, and Aaron Bufton was called upon to make a couple of good saves.

The introduction of Anton Lewis up front on 65 minutes changed the pattern again when he combined with Anton Robinson and cut open the Bridges’ defence regularly. It was no surprise that, after hitting the post, Lewis helped himself to two goals. The first a delightful lob over the keeper and the second a fierce shot from the edge of the box.

The team was well marshalled all afternoon by a good performance from skipper and Man of the Match Sam Phillips.

Report: ALLAN GREEN.
